Women Achievers
A Force to be
reckoned with
From the old world charm of Mumbai
in India where she was born in 1939, to
the hallowed portals of McGill University
in Montreal and from there on to chairing
Education Committee of the McGill
Centre on Aging, it has been a long and
eventful journey for Dr. Dolly Dastoor.
But you know what they say about the
quality of good leaders: They never forget
their roots. SynergyZ caught up with
Dr. Dastoor during her visit to Mumbai
last year, when she came for the Navar
initiation ceremony of her two grandsons,
and the Martab ceremony of her son,
living in Singapore. Here is an inspiring
story on this outstanding woman.
A multifaceted personality, Dr Dolly
Dastoor straddles two worlds. She is an
Assistant Professor in the Department of
Psychiatry at McGill University and has
been at the forefront of the Federation
of Zoroastrian Associations of North
America (FEZANA) since last 26 years.
Passionate about her vocation and her
avocation, she has won acclaim in both
spheres. With her exceptional energy and
a warm and charismatic personality, Dolly
Dastoor, is a one-woman institution who
has conquered many milestones in her
life.
Raised in Mumbai, she received her B.A. Dolly Dastoor
and M.A. from the Bombay University in
psychology. She went to Nigeria in 1964 of Psychology, Universities of Concordia, in her since childhood, she followed
and worked as a WHO Research Fellow
at the University College Hospital in McGill, and Montreal. the path of education and did not allow
Ibadan, Nigeria. In 1973 she immigrated
to Canada with the family and joined anything to deter her and obtained a Ph.D
the Douglas Hospital as a Clinical
Psychologist and later became the Understanding the value of education and in Clinical Psychology from Concordia
Clinical Administrator of the Program in service to society; which were ingrained University, Montreal. Currently she is
Dementia with Psychiatric Co-morbidity.
At present she is an Assistant Professor in
the Department of Psychiatry and in the
Centre of Aging, McGill University, and
was Clinical Supervisor in the Department
